Am I an insomniac?

Let’s examine the situation…

Answers.com definition of insomnia : Chronic inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate length of time.

Lately I’ve been experiencing the first symptom (inability to fall asleep) but, once I do fall asleep, I can usually remain asleep for a more (much more) than adequate length of time. So let’s carry on…

Wikipedia.com has this to say about insomnia : First it starts off by defining insomnia the same way as Answers.com and then carries on to state that “Most believe that insomnia is itself a sleep disorder, but it is not. It is a symptom, as insomniacs typically complain of being unable to close their eyes or ‘rest their mind’ for more than a few minutes at a time.”

I can’t say that I share the complaints of a typical insomniac. Within the last 3 hours I’ve managed to get to that point where everything is perfectly still, you’re comfortable and ready to switch off, about 3 or 4 times and then it just… went away! I can ‘rest my mind’ and close my eyes and really get into that ready-to-fall-asleep state. However, I’m tired, sleepy, I can feel that weight on my eyelids that’s telling me “YO! It’s time to hit the sack!”, but I CAN’T SLEEP!

Maybe I’m being a bit paranoid here. The fact is that I CAN get a decent amount of sleep after I’ve been awake for about 20 hours (most times even less), but the question I really want to ask right now is this: If this isn’t insomnia, then WHAT IN GOD’S NAME AM I DOING HERE AT 7:30 AM???
